Robert Grosvenor was baptised on 22 Mar 1767 at St. George, Hanover Square, London, England.
He was the only surviving son of Richard Grosvenor and Henrietta Vernon.

He was educated at Westminster School London, Harrow School, Middlesex, London. Then he went to Trinity College, Cambridge, at the age of 17.[1]

Marriage Sir Robert Grosvenor married Eleanor Egerton on 28 April 1794. She was the only child of Sir Thomas Egerton (later the 1st Earl Wilton).

He died on 17 February 1845.

Research Notes

He succeeded in 1802 as 2nd Earl Grosvenor and was created Marquess of Westminster in 1831

He was an English Member of Parliament and an ancestor of the modern-day Dukes of Westminster.

Educated at Harrow School, Westminster School and Trinity College.

Elected as an MP in 1788 he supported the Whigs and took an active part for the Reform Bill and was a member of the Anti-Corn Law League.

On his fathers death in 1802 he became 2nd Earl Grosvenor and in 1826 having obtained special powers by Act of Parliament, he began to develop the parts of his London estates that were to become Belgravia and Pimlico. This urban development made the family one of the richest in Britain.

At the coronation of William IV in 1831 he was created Marquess of Westminster. He enlarged the Grosvenor House art collection, then one of the best private collections in the world, He also owned some of the most famous racehorses of the day.
