Biography

Sergeant Almon Griswold served in the United States Civil War.

Almon was born in 1839 in Chagrin Falls, Ohio to Henry Griswold and Bettsy D. Hutchins. Almon worked in a sawmill in Chagrin Falls in 1860. In 1862 he enlisted in Company D of the 103rd OVI. Almon was promoted to Corporal on 1 Jan 1864 and then promoted to Sergeant on 1 Jan 1865. He married Helen Luther on 13 Jan 1866 in Geauga, Ohio. Almon moved to Michigan by 1870 and was a farmer. He passed away in 1918.
