Biography

Nathan Gregg Jr. was born 10 Apr 1840 in Ross County, Ohio, the son of Nathan Gregg and his wife, Susannah Roughton.[1]

He was married first on 10 Aug 1859 in Cass County, Missouri, to Eliza Jane Beach.[2] They were the parents of the following children:

  • Thomas Jefferson Gregg (1860-?), married and had a family
  • William D "Dickie" Gregg (1863-?), married and had a child
  • Mary Ann Gregg (1865-?)
  • Sarah E Gregg (1868-?)
  • Lucy J Gregg (1870-?)
  • John W Gregg (1873-?)
  • Luvina Frances Gregg (26 Aug 1875-22 Sep 1876)
  • James Perry Gregg (Jul 1879-?), married 1 Feb 1902 to Dora Hollis

Nathan Jr. married second as her second husband, to Louisa May Page on 20 March 1893 in St. Clair County, Missouri. They had the following children:

  • Louisa May Gregg (29 May 1896-13 Aug 1965), married 1923 to Harvey Leroy Humphrey
  • Andrew Jackson Gregg (26 Feb 1899-13 Aug 1965), married Ruth Jane Rice
  • Sena Gregg, died about age 2

They may have had another infant who died.

He appeared on the 1850 census of Cass County, Missouri with his parents as: Nathan Gragg, age 942, male, farmer, real estate valuation $400, born in Ohio; Susannah Gragg, age 42, female, born in Ohio; Rachel Gragg, age 21, female, born in Ohio; Rosannah Gragg, age 17, female, born in Ohio; Elizabeth Gragg, age 13, female, born in Ohio; Nellie Gragg, age 12, female, born in Ohio; Nathan Gragg, age 10, male, born in Ohio; William Gragg, age 7, male, born in Missouri; Jacob Gragg, age 6, male, born in Missouri; Aaron Gragg, age 4, male, born in Missouri; and Martha J. Gragg, age 1, female, born in Missouri.[3]
