John was born about 1841. He was the son of David Greenfield and Mary Fogges.

John (age 25), child of David Greenfield, married Fanny Ferguson on 22 May 1866. His occupation given as tobacco manufacturer. ^[2]

By the 1881 census John (age 39), Tobacconist, was the married head of household at 37 Prospect Street, Hunslet, Yorkshire, England.^[4]

A decade later in the 1891 census John (age 49) was the head of household in Hunslet, Yorkshire, England.He was entered as a tobacco manufacturer. ^[5]

In the 1911 census John (age 69) was the married head of household at 2 Maye Grove Perth Street, Sculcoates, Yorkshire-East Riding, England.^[6]
