Mildred Deleuw Greenberg was born on 9 May 1917 in Saint Joseph, Missouri. Daughter of Edward Greenberg and Marion Guettel. Her professional stage names were Mona Greenberg and Mona Graham.

Mona met Karl Malden while attending the Goodman Theater in Chicago while both were on acting scholarships. The couple moved to New York and married on 18 Dec 1938^[1] They had two daughters - Mila and Cara. The family lived in New York for 20 years before moving to Los Angeles to further Karl's career. Both daughters appear to have remained in the Beverly Hills area and are reported to live next door to their mother as of 2014.

Her husband passed away in 2009, and Mona lived to the age of 102 before she passed away in 2019.
