Biography

Birth

Forrest was born in 1950. He was the son of Jacob Green and Lula Mae Russell.

Name

His Hocąk name is rendered on his memorial plaque as NA MA CE KURUS. This is for Nąmące K’uruska, a name in the Bird "Clan" (Upper Moiety), from nąmące, "warclub"; k’urus, kurús, "to take back, to take back with"; and -ka, a definite article suffix used in personal names. The name means, therefore, "He who has Taken His Warclub." (Dorsey)

Military Service

Forrest served off the coast of Vietnam in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. (Find a Grave)

Death

He passed away in 2014 and is buried at Blue Wing Cemetery, Tomah, Monroe County, Wisconsin, USA. (Find a Grave)
