Biography

Lived in San Francisco, California until age 5. Attended kindergarten there when father and mother were owners of “Green’s Meat Pies”, a mini meat pie shop influenced by Grandma Green’s recipes. Moved to Reno, Nevada for a very short time (about a month) until father went to work in Susanville, CA as a welder at Fruit Growers Supply Company, a logging company which produced boxes for the citrus industry in California. Lived in company apartments until 8th grade when dad changed jobs to become owner of a Mobil Gas station. Parents also operated the lunch grill and soda shop in Milwood Drug Store in Susanville for a period during High School. Dad went back to work at Fruit Growers also during late 50’s. Left for College in September of 1959 at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA where majored in aeronautical engineering. During college years worked as a fire fighter at the Bureau of Land Management during the summers. During the summer of 1963 worked as a tank truck operator for the US Forest service at Pat Morris Springs camp in Lassen National Forest. During the summer of 1964 was drafted while working at BLM. 3 went for our physicals in Oakland and Two went to Army basic training at Ft Ord, CA. After basic was sent to Edwards Air Force base, CA where employed as an engineering aide for helicopter flight testing. Main assignment there was on an experimental vertical take off and landing aircraft designated the XC-142. While there met and married first wife Debby Lee. I worked with Army soldiers Walter Hamilton, Frank Hinds and several others. Some of the civilian engineers were: Burt Rutan and Charlie Van Norman also Cal Poly graduates. Also Air Force Airman Pete Van Etten. After Army service in July 1966 moved back to San Luis Obispo to finish degree at Cal Poly. Graduated in Dec 1966 with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering. Secured a job with Lockheed Missiles and Space Co. in Sunnyvale, CA. Before starting career at Lockheed we took an extended trip to Europe from Dec 1966 thru May 1967. Bought a 1967 VW Westphalia Camper there and drove throughout England, Ireland, Belgium, Holland, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, Yugoslavia, and by ship and train Greece and Turkey. Worked in the Structural test Lab at Lockheed for about 3 years after which transferred to the Space Technology Lab as an orbit planner on the Corona Satellite system for which Lockheed was the primary contractor. Later worked on other satellite programs as a mission planner and recovery system planner. In the late 70’s went back to the “factory” to work in operations planning and Launch Systems Integration for several other major satellite programs. Retired from Lockheed in 1997 after 31 years. Met present and last wife, Lorna in Florida while on a business trip to Cape Canaveral. Were married while still in CA. Moved to Okeechobee, FL in 1997. Worked at several delivery part time jobs for the next few years, then in 1999 went to work at Larson Dairy as a maintenance helper and equipment operator. Eventually was promoted to the front office and was the permitting and environmental specialist until about 2005 when finally retired for good. Petitioned and joined the Masonic Lodge in 2002 and was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in March of 2003. Joined the York Rite in Oct 2003. Served as Worshipful Master of Okeechobee Lodge in 2009. Was the High Priest of Joppa Chapt. 28 RAM, the Illustrious Master of Tyrian Council R&S Masters and Commander of St Lucie Commandery. Was appointed as the Grand Sentinal of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons in 2011 and advanced to the Grand Scribe in 2017-2018. Served as Excellent Chief of Space Coast Council 32 of Knight Masons. Members of Florida 60 Priory of Knights of The York Cross of Honour and John Bridges Phelps 31, York Rite Sovereign College.
