Benjamin Lacy Grant was born in 1875 in Townsend, Norfolk, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of Robert Grant and Jane Griffith.^[1]

In 1881 Benjamin Grant (age 5) was living with his parents and younger sister and Aunt Helen Griffith in Moore, Lambton West, Ontario, Canada. His father worked as a Drayman and his Aunt was a tayloress.^[2]

In 1891 Benjamin (age 15) was living with his parents and two younger siblings in the same place. His father was now working in a mine and his mother was a dressmaker, employing 4 people.^[3]

His father passed away, and his mother emigrated with the children to Michigan, United States about 1897.

Benjamin Grant migrated from Canada to United States.
