Biography
Allison's birth was registered on 10 May 1878 in the Tranent district.[1] Daughter of Robert Grant and Catherine Little. Her father put his mark on the birth certificate, probably because he could not write, he was present.
Alison's marriage to James Dodds was registered on 25 Aug 1899 in the parish of Tranent, Haddington. At the time of her marriage she was 22 a domestic servant, living in Elphinston, Tranent. Her father Robert Grant was a coalminer, her mother Catherine Little. James Dodds was aged 25, a coalminer living in Elphinston. His father Thomas Dodds was a coalminer, his mother Euphemia Davidson.[2]
Alison's death (age 73) was registered on 6 Jan1952 in the George Square district. She died in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh of a blot clot, Alison lived at 31 Buxley Road, Elphinstone, Tranent. Her son Robert Dodds signed the death notice, he lived at 25 Duries Park, Elphinstone, Tranent. [3]

In the 1891 census Alison (age 13), Scholar, was the daughter of Robert Grant in Rosie Row, Wemyss, Buckhaven, Fife, Scotland.[11]
In the 1901 census Alison (age 22), Coal miner's wife, was the wife of James Dodds in Wynd, Main Street, Tranent, Haddingtonshire (East Lothian), Scotland.[12]
