Biography

Helen A. Gove was born on 28 Nov 1904 in Peru, Clinton, New York.^[1][2][3][4] She was the daughter of Jay B. Gove & Mary Ackley

Helen married Gurden Earl Jones on 2 Jul 1932 in Peru, Clinton, New York.^[5]

Wedding Announcement: A pretty home wedding took place on Saturday morning when Miss Helen Gove of Peru became the bride of Mr. Gurden E. Jones of Harriman. The ceremony took place in the home of the bride's grandmother, Mrs. T. B. Ackley, and was performed by the Rev. Roe Reamy Mitchell.

The bride was charming in blue flowered chiffon, and carried a bouquet of roses. She was attended by her cousin, Miss Grace Ackley, gowned in yellow embroidered organdle.

Mrs. Jones is a graduate of Peru High School and Plattsburg State Normal, and is one of the popular young women of Peru. The groom is a native of Fulton, N.Y., and a graduate of the Oswego State Normal School. He holds a responsible position in the school system of Harriman, N.Y. The happy couple left by aut immediately after the wedding for a honeymoon trip through the Green and White Mountains of New England.^[6]

Helen and Gurden did not have children together. They met while they were both working in Harriman, Orange, New York.^[7]

Attracted to the warmer climate, Helen and Gurden eventually relocated to Florida, where Gurden continued to teach.^[7]

Though they lived in Florida, Helen and Gurden also maintained a summer home in Keeseville, New York on Lake Champlain.^[7]

In her senior years, Helen began raising orchids and making shell jewelry.^[7]

Helen and Gurden enjoyed square dancing together, and they held memberships in the Charlotte Promenaders (in Florida) and the Plattsburgh North Country Squares (in New York).^[7]

Helen passed away on 30 Dec 1999.^[2][3][4] She was entombed at Charlotte Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda, Charlotte, Florida.^[8]
