Biography

Alexander Gordon, 4th Duke of Gordon (18 June 1743-June 17, 1827) was the son of Cosmo George Gordon, 3rd Duke of Gordon and Lady Catherine Gordon. He married, firstly, Jane Maxwell, daughter of Sir William Maxwell of Monreith, 3rd Bt. and Magdalen Blair, on 23 October 1767 at Ayton, Berwickshire, Scotland. He married, secondly, Jane Christie in July 1820.

He succeeded his father as 4th Duke of Gordon [S., 1684] on 5 August 1752. He had four children by his second wife.
