Timothy was the son of Daniel Goodwyn.
He was awarded a D.D. from University of Utrecht 9 May, 1692; and educated at University of Oxford, Oxford, created M.A. from St. Edmund Hall 22 Jan., 1696-7; incorporated at Cambridge 1697, D.D. Lambeth 1 Oct., 1714,
He was Rector of Rushock, co. Worcester, 1701, Chaplain to bishop of Oxford, Archdeacon of Oxford 1707, Rector of Heythrop, Oxon, 1710-14, Bishop of Kilmore and Ardagh 1714, and of Archbishop of Cashel 1727, until his death 13 Dec., 1729. [1]
He was consecrated as Bishop of Kilmore and Ardagh at Dunboyne, on 16 January 1714, by the Primate, assisted by the Bishops of Kildare and Clonfert; and was enthroned on February 15th. [D. R.]
When he was Bishop of Kilmore and Ardagh he rebuilt the Bishop's palace of Kilmore.
In 1727 he succeeded to the Archbishop of Cashel, by patent dated 3 June 1727.
He married Anna Maria Anderson, daughter and co-heiress of Charles Anderson of Worcester. Her sister Charlotte married Robert Jocelyn, 1st Viscount Jocelyn.
He died in Dublin, on 13 December 1729, and was buried at St. Michan's Church. [2]
