From the Ithaca daily journal, August 18, 1898, Page 3 (Image 3), Column 6[4]:

"George E. Goodrich, Esq., Dryden's historian, is here on a legal mission today."

From the Ithaca daily journal, January 03, 1900, Page 3 (Image 3), Column 3 (near the bottom)[5]

"The next of kin in this vicinity of Hulda Ellis, late of Providence, R. I., have been receiving a distribution of $4,000 through George B. Davis, Esq., of this city. Mrs. Ellis was a descendant of John Ellis, who was know as "King of Dryden" and so noted in George E. Goodrich's history of that town. The distribution came during the holidays and the legates call their shares Christmas presents."

Thank you! I had looked for an existing George Goodrich, but I didn't know enough to narrow it down. I added his burial / FindAGrave memorial, and a couple of newspaper references that mention his Dryden historian chops.
