Biography

Myra Moffat Goodeve was the daughter of Arthur Samuel Goodeve and Ellen Edith Spence.[1]

She served as a Canadian Army Medical Corps nurse during the Great War at the front with the first contingent,[2][3] She served in the England, France, Dardenelles and Malta theatres.[2] She was stationed at Salonika, Greece, [4] including time at Lemnos, where her humour and courage were noted by her fellow nursing sister Helen Fowlds.[5]

She received the Royal Red Cross,[6] eventually holding both 1st[7] and 2nd Classes.[8] She was also mentioned in despatches.[9] She was demobilised after the war with the rank of Matron.[2]

She died in 1966 and is commemorated on the family gravestone in Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa, Ontario.[10]
