Biography

Myra Moffat Goodeve was the daughter of Arthur Samuel Goodeve and Ellen Edith Spence.^[1]

She served as a Canadian Army Medical Corps nurse during the Great War at the front with the first contingent,^[2][3] She served in the England, France, Dardenelles and Malta theatres.^[2] She was stationed at Salonika, Greece, ^[4] including time at Lemnos, where her humour and courage were noted by her fellow nursing sister Helen Fowlds.^[5]

She received the Royal Red Cross,^[6] eventually holding both 1st^[7] and 2nd Classes.^[8] She was also mentioned in despatches.^[9] She was demobilised after the war with the rank of Matron.^[2]

She died in 1966 and is commemorated on the family gravestone in Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa, Ontario.^[10]
