Donald Guy Golden, 64, of Scotts Valley, California, died peacefully on May 30, 2015, at the home of his son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, after a battle with liver cancer. He was born in Bakersfield, California, on July 26, 1950, to the late Donald Golden and the late Lillian Gilman. He worked for many years as a respected resource teacher, working with special needs students, most recently at Wilcox High School in Santa Clara, and previously at Beardsley School in Bakersfield where he was also an admired track coach.
He was an enthusiastic outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, kayaking, volleyball, bicycling, camping, and spending time at the beach, especially at Santa Cruz, near his home, and at Pismo Beach, with friends from his hometown.
He is most notable for being a passionate and beloved member of the Santa Cruz area glass arts community. He was the owner/artist at Golden Glass Art Studios and spent much of his later years working with fused glass art, and on occasion, holding workshops at his home studio.
He was also a lifelong superfan of the San Francisco 49ers, and had a room dedicated to posters, pennants, artwork, and memorabilia from the team. And he was an avid car enthusiast and had an instant recall of every detail about every car he ever owned.
Don is survived by his son, Patrick; daughter-in-law, Beverly; grandson, Dane; sisters, Denise Stockton and Diana Sonnier & Kelley, Kim, and Kristy Golden; nieces and nephews; lots of cousins, near and far; and his rescue cat, Tory. Also survived by Clint Golden, his sons, and family.

Paternal relationship is confirmed by a 23andMe test match between Patrick Golden and Donald Golden, on 36 out of 37 markers thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA John Golden.
