Ray Goldbeck has Danish ancestors

Raymond "Ray" Goldbeck was born about 1923 in Saskatchewan, Canada. He was the son of Andrew Nielsen and Christina Andersen. Raymond's family had emigrated from Denmark to a homestead plot in Saskatchewan Canada about 1913-14. His parents had six children born in Denmark and three in Canada; Raymond was the youngest.[1]

In the 1931 census, Raymond Goldbeck (age 7), was living with his father Andrew (age 50, mother Christine (age 51), and siblings: Ogge Swen (19), George (18), Alvin (16), Mildred (13), in Neville, Saskatchewan.[2]

Raymond left home at the age of 13 yrs. to work on the CPR.

In 1940 he moved to Moose Jaw Saskatchewan and worked at Swift Meat Packers where he met his future wife Eva Muriel (Unknown).[3]

Raymond enlisted in the Canadian Navy in 1941 and served until 1945 during World War ll. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Moose Jaw Branch for 55 years.[4]

In June 1944 Raymond married Eva and they were together 55 years before she passed away. After he left the Navy in 1945 Raymond and Eva lived in Moose Jaw Sask. There, Raymond first worked at Co-op Dairies for a year, and then worked 33 years for Palm Dairies. After that he worked 15 years as a Commissionaire. Eva and Ray had two children, a son and a daughter.

After his wife Eva passed away, Ray moved to Regina Saskatchewan to be closer to his children and grandchildren.[3]

Raymond passed away about 2006 at the age of 83 years old. Army, Navy, and Air Force Veteran's Rites were conducted at his memorial. In memory of Ray a tree was planted in Wakamow Valley by the funeral home.[3]
