Biography
Matilda Goggins was born in 1809.
In the 1850 census Matilda (age 41) was in District 10, Campbell, Georgia, United States.[1]
Matilda Mots was named in her father James Goggins' will of 23 November 1857 recorded in Edgefield District, South Carolina. She had already received thirty dollars, and her daughter Milinder Motes was to receive the residue as well as one feather bed and furniture after the death of James' wife Mary.[2]
In the 1860 census Matilda (age 47) was in Campbell, Georgia.[3] In the 1870 census Matilda (age 61), Keeping House, was in Western District, Marion, Alabama.[4] In the 1880 census Matilda (age 71), Housekeeper, was the wife of Andrew Motes in Beat 9 and 12, Marion, Alabama, United States.[5]
Matilda died on 8 March 1896 and was buried in County Line Cemetery, Fayette County, Alabama, United States.[6]
