William Godwin passed away on Sept 2, 1905 in Mississippi County, Missouri and is buried at Dogwood Cemetery in Dogwood, Mississippi County, Missouri.[1]

Mr. William Godwin, father of J.F. Godwin of the lumber firm of J.F. Godwin & Sons, died at the home of his dau., Mrs. Wm. Henson, living on the Lee Jones farm 3 miles west of East Prairie Saturday September 2, 1905, of the infirmities of old age, being in his 90th year. Deceased was a native of middle Tenn. and came here 8 months ago. Five times he entered the holy bonds of wedlock and was the father of 21 children, only 10 surviving him. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
