James Godwin lived in Virginia.

James Godwin was a Virginia colonist.

James, the son of Col. Thomas Godwin (1656-1714) and Martha (Bridger) Godwin (abt.1660-abt.1714),^[1] was named in his father's Nansemond will of 3 May 1712.

James married Sarah Kinchen, before 1734, daughter of William Kinchen of Isle of Wight County (in whose 1734 will she was named as Sara Godwin).^[2]
