Glover, Alfred--302336--born: Burlington, Ontario on August 26, 1896; occupation: Labourer; attested: November 11, 1915; notes: paper not signed by an O.C

The 40th Battery, CFA was recruited in Hamilton, Ontario late in 1915, and consisted primarily of men from that city and Orillia, Ontario. The Battery was initially part of the 8th Brigade, CFA, but later transferred to the 10th Brigade, CFA and remained a part of this unit until the end of hostilities.

In April 1901 Alfred is a 1year old living in East Flamboro, Wentworth South, Ontario with his parents Bert 33, Maggie 29, siblings Ethel Ann 10, Evaline 9, Roy 6, Charles 4, a boarder Violet Glover 5, and his grandfather Syrus 77.

The 1911 Canada Census has Alfred at age 11 living at 584 James St. N. in West Hamilton, Ontario with his parents Bertie 43, Maggie 39, siblings Ethel 21, Eva 19 , LeRoy 16, Charles 14, and Cora 7. (In 2020, 584 James N. is part of a plaza with Grandad's Donuts in it.)

In 1921 Alfred is aged 22 years living with his wife Eva 21 and sons Raymond 2, Oliver 5 mos. at 106 Birge St. in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
