James Gleason was born in Oxford, Massachusetts on Sep 10, 1723. He was son of Thomas Gleason and Susanna Haven. [1]

James was a "somewhat eccentric character". He was a physician and a Universalist minister. In 1765 he bought the Campbell Grant of 400 acres in North Gore, where he removed and spent the last years of his life. In 1798 he published a treatise of 190 pages titled "Exposition of the First Three Chapters of Genesis". [2]
