Biography

Evangeline Girouard Prince DeCarolis was a member of St. Anna’s Church in Leominster and had been a member of the Leominster Senior Citizens Center, where she had enjoyed playing the piano.

She married her first husband, Doria Prince, in 1924 and they had three sons. After Doria's death in 1962, she married Patrick DeCarolis in 1963. She lived to be 100 years old but suffered dementia and resided in a nursing home in her final decade of life.

OBITUARY

LEOMINSTER -- Evangeline (Girouard) DeCarolis, 100, of 128 Sylvan Ave., died Monday evening, April 7, in River Terrace Healthcare Center, Lancaster.

Mrs. DeCarolis was born in Fitchburg on Dec. 4, 1902, the daughter of Clovis and Marie (Leger) Girouard, and had lived in Leominster since 1963. She was a member of St. Anna’s Church in Leominster and had been a member of the Leominster Senior Citizens Center, where she had enjoyed playing the piano.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Patrick M. DeCarolis; two sons, Deacon Norman A.J. Prince and his wife, Irene, of Fitchburg and Raymond G. Prince and his wife, Patricia, of Englewood, Fla.; a brother, Victor Girouard of Fitchburg; a sister, Yvonne Boucher of Hayward, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

Her first husband, Doria Prince, died in 1962. A son, Deacon Ernest Prince died in 1994. She also had five sisters, Irene Farineau, Alma Leblanc, Cecile Palmer, Delima Hanks-Leblanc, and Clarinda Raffaele, and two brothers, Edgar Girouard and Arthur Girouard, who predeceased her.
