Biography

Emma Lauretta Girling was born on April 15, 1885 in Woolwich Township, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of James Girling and Elizabeth J. "Lilly" Elliott.^[1]

In the 1891 census Emma (age 6) was living with her father James Girling (age 29, Teamster/flax mill), mother Elizabeth (age 28?), brother Thomas E (4), and four lodgers, in Palmerston, Wellington North, Ontario, Canada.^[2]

Emily (22) married David Wesley Griffith (28) (born on July 26, 1879 in Hagersville, Haldimand, Ontario; son of John Clancy Griffith and Sarah (McIsaac) Griffith) on January 10, 1908 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. ^[3]

In 1916, Emily L Griffith (32), was a wife, living with her husband, David W, (37, retail, automobile sales) and roomer Robert C Griffith (age 29), in Manitoba, Canada. ^[4]

In the 1921 census Emily (age 36) was living with her husband David Wesley Griffith (age 40, Auto agent/garage), and brother-in-law Colin R Giffith (age 35, salesman/real estate), in Winnipeg (City), Winnipeg South, Manitoba, Canada.^[5]
