Eliza Girling was born on 5 Oct 1850 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, United Kingdom, daughter of Edward Horatio Girling (~1821–1852) and Sarah Bytheway (1815–1883).

Eliza had a relationship with Frederick Morris (born on 25 Mar 1852 in Birmingham; son of Thomas Morris and Sarah Sartain). They did not marry. Their daughter was Ada Morris (1879–1948).
