William Alexander Gilmore. Given Name: William Alexander. Surname: Gilmore. A Given name was found in addition to a first name in the NAME tag.
William, a Victorian shearer before travelling OS and working in Paraguay. He met and married his wife Mary Cameron whilst both colonists in Cosme settlement in Paraguay on 25 May 1897
Their only child William Dysart Cameron Gilmore (1898-1945) was born on 21 August 1898 at Villarica, near Cosme.
In 1899 the Gilmores left the Cosme settlement to work at various jobs. In November 1900, the family went to Rio Gallegos in southern Patagonia where Will worked on a ranch and Mary gave English lessons.
In 1902 they Went to , stayed briefly with Henry Lawson and his family in London, before returning to Sydney, Australia. They moved to Strathdownie, near Casterton in western Victoria, where Will's parents had a property.
The Gilmores left Casterton in 1912, Mary and their son went to Sydney while Will joined his brother on the land in the Cloncurry district of Queensland.
He and Mary kept only occasional nail company after that time but remained interested in and respectful of one another. ( see link below for source)
