Biography

Son of Frederick K. Gerner (1847–1926) & Elvira Bartley (1854–1943), Alphonzo F. Gerner was born on July 25, 1874,[1] in Nicholas, West Virginia,[2] he was a twin of Alonzo (1874-1940).[3] He married twice, first to Hattie Belle Slagle (1874–1952) on December 17, 1896 in Butler County, Pennsylvania[4] and second to widow Elva Winona 'Nona' Mendenhall) Covert (1878–1950) sometime between 1922 and 1930. [5] He died on January 29, 1952, in Bruin, Pennsylvania, [6]at the age of 77, and was buried in Petrolia, Pennsylvania.[7]
