Matilda Gerling was born on 4 May 1892 in Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio, United States, daughter of Hermann Joseph Gerling (1844 - 1894) and Maria Elizabeth (Kolde) Gerling (~1855 - 1932).

Her brother was Joseph Theodore Gerling (1890 - 1971).

Matilda Gerling(24) married Albert Adolph Kattus (24) (born in Cincinnati on 4 July 1892; died in Cincinnati on 26 February 1964) on 14 November 1916.[1].

Matilda died on 26 October 1984 in Cincinnati aged 92. She is buried in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Cincinnati.[2][3]
