Biography
Catherine was born on 24 March 1715 in Bern, Bern, Switzerland. She was the daughter of Christian Gerber and Catharina (Hirschi) Gerber.
Alternate Birth: 24 March 1715 in Roethenbach im Emmental BE.
Catherine died at the age of about 53 in 1769 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States.
Proposed Biography:
Catharine Gerber Neff was born in 1735 the fifth child and daughter of Christian Gerber who signed the Martin Mylin-Wendel Bauman Mennonite petition of Naturalization.[1] As her father was naturalized before her birthdate, she most likely was born in Hempfield Township of Lancaster County. She married John Neff in 1755.[2] Together they had at least three known children Magdalena, John and Catherine. Catherine died in 1769 in Manor Township, Lancaster County and is buried at the Neff-Hershey Cemetery in Central Manor, PA.[2]
Research Notes
- The birth date information on this profile may be one generation off. From Find A Grave we know that she was born in 1735 and is buried at the Neff-Hershey Cemetery, having died in 1769. See the proposed biography listed above.
- I think the data points are valid; however, I think these apply to her parents and not herself. It is known that her father was named Christian and was a full grown adult by 1728. The man listed as her brother here is the ideal candidate.
