Biography

Newton Lafayette Gentry was born on March 30, 1871 in Hanover County, Virginia, United States, son of James Cary Gentry (1846–1915) and Emily Jane Phillips (1850–1937).

Newton married Minnie Hartwell Heckler (born on July 24, 1873 in Fairfield, Rockbridge, Virginia; daughter of Henry Clay Hechler and Sarah F (Gary) Hechler).^[1] Their son was Henry Eldridge Gentry (1894–1967).
