Frank Genford has English ancestors.

Francis Benjamin Genford was born on the 19th September 1922, in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, the third known child, second son of Benjamin Genford and Amy Gladys Gleaves.

When Francis (later known as "Frank") was not even two years old, his father died unexpectedly after the bicycle he was riding collided with a motor car. Several months afterwards, his mother packed up her four children (Blanche, John, himself, and the baby: Yvonne) and departed for England aboard the Largs Bay, arriving at Hull on the 27th November.[1]

The little Genford family – minus Frank's older brother John Hector, who had died soon after they had arrived in 1925 – returned to Australia in 1926, departing England on the 1st July aboard the Balranald.[2]

1929 was not the best of years, as Frank's mother was involved in at least one lawsuit, involving two cases of affiliation, in New South Wales in that year,[3] and the same year saw the death of a baby sister (Jeanne).[4]

In 1937, his mother married James Patterson, at Redfern.
Frank Genford is an Anzac who served in World War Two.

Frank enlisted for military service in 1941, later transferring from the CMF to the AIF in 1942. His military record shows that he served in the 9th Australian Infantry Brigade General Transport Company; his pre-war occupation had been a Cotton Wool Machinist; and his appearance was said to be of fair complexion, with red hair. He served in the CMF from 29/12/41 – 28/8/42; and in the AIF from 29/8/42 – 5/2/46 – a total of 1500 days, of which 1094 days were in Australia, and 300 days on active service overseas (does not include any consecutive 21 days or more where not entitled to pay). He was listed as being eligible for the Pacific Star, the War Medal, and the Australian Service Medal. He was discharged on account of demobilisation on the 11th February 1946.[5]

Frank and Patricia Eleanor Tilley were married on the 2nd October 1948, in Redfern, New South Wales.[6] They were to have seven known children.

In 1951 Frank's mother died, aged 59 years.

In 1954, Frank and Patricia were living at Lot 151 Karraba Street, Sefton, New South Wales, registered to vote in the electoral districts of Reid (Commonwealth); Bankstown(State); and Bankstown North (Local Subdivision). His given occupation was that of packer.[7]

In 1977 Frank and Patricia were living at 7 Karraba Street, Sefton, registered to vote in the subdivision of Birrong. His given occupation was still that of packer.[8]

In 1980 Frank, Patricia, and Laurie were living at 7 Karraba Street, Sefton, registered to vote in the subdivision of Birrong.[9]

Francis Benjamin Genford passed away on the 10th November 1995, in Sefton, New South Wales, Australia. Notices of his death were published on the 13th in the Sydney Morning Herald, and the Daily Telegraph (Sydney).[10] [11] Funeral notices were also published in the same newspapers, announcing the funeral would be held on the 15th, afterwards going to the Rookwood Catholic Cemetery, where Frank would be laid to rest.[12] [13]

Frank was buried on the 15th at Rookwood Catholic, where his father, along with other family members, was also laid to rest.[14]
