Liza Gatton is a part of US Black heritage.

Liza was born maybe 1805. In 1807, she was enslaved person in the household of Azariah Gatton of Iredell, North Carolina. She died some time after 1807.

On 22 Feb 1807, Azariah Gatton wrote a will in Iredell, North Carolina.The bequests included:

To daughter Nancy, one Negro girl Darky.

To daughter Angelenor, one Negro girl Luce.

To daughter Sally, one negro girl Mill.

To son Benjamin, one Negro man Dick.

To son James, one Negro boy Isaac.

To daughter Betsy, one Negro girl Bitha & one hundred dollars to make her Negro equal with the rest.

To daughter Patsey, one Negro boy Castila.

To daughter Lurary, one Negro girl Liza.^[1]
