Bamber Gascoyne (1725-1791) was a Lord of the Admiralty
Bamber Gascoyne of Childwell Hall, Lancashire (1725–1791), was an 18th century English politician, a member of the House of Commons of Great Britain.
Gascoyne was the son of Sir Crisp Gascoyne and Margaret Bamber. Bamber Gascoyne, son of Crisp Gascoyne & Margaret Gascoyne, was baptised on 22 Feb 1724-1725 in All Hallows Staining, City of London, London, England.[1]
After his education at Felsted, he served as member of Parliament for several constituencies including Maldon (1761–63), Midhurst (1765–68), and Truro (1774–84). From 1779 to 1782 he was a Lord Commissioner of the Admiralty in the administration of Lord North.[2]
He married Mary Green, whose parents Isaac Green and Mary Aspinwall were Americans, and was the father of Bamber Gascoyne (junior) and Isaac Gascoyne.
Bamber Gascoyn Esq was buried on 4 November 1791 in Bath Abbey, Somerset, England.[2]
Buried at St Margaret's church, Barking, Essex, England on 7 November 1791, where there are several memorials to both the Bamber and Gascoyne families. [3]
