James was born in 1840 to George Gage and Minerva. James enlisted in Company G of the 103rd OVI on 21 Aug 1862. He mustered out with the company on 12 Jun 1865. James married Alice Fitch on 12 Feb 1868. He was a Farmer by trade. James passed away in 1883.
