Biography

John Fuller was the progenitor of the Baltimore County, Maryland and Caswell County, North Carolina Fuller families.

His origins are unknown. It's unclear whether he is same the John Fuller who had surveyed 100 acres "Fuller's Outlet" in Baltimore County on 11 Jan 1655 or a son of said John Fuller with the same name.[1]

He was mentioned as a taxable of New Castle Court (now Delaware) on the Eastern Shore nearby Abram Eenloos in November 1677.[2]

John Fuller married Hester Enloes and together they had two proven children:

  1. John
  2. Henry

They were also very likely the parents of a third son:

  1. Thomas

The marriage occurred by 28 Aug 1682 when John's father-in-law, Hendrick Enloes, obligated himself to John for 8000 pounds of tobacco for security of his performance of an agreement. Enloes acknowledged in November court (Baltimore County, Maryland).

This same date, Hendrick Enloes, of Middle River, conveyed to John Fuller 100-acre tract, "The Swallow Fork" at Senego Creek for 4000 pounds of tobacco.[3]

John's occupation was listed as both an innholder and planter. His raised his family in Baltimore County's Gunpowder Hundred.[3][4]

John Fuller died in Baltimore County circa 1699. His estate was inventoried 6 March 1700. [5] [1]His wife, Hester, remarried twice after his death.

Hi, Lee. Since this is a pre-1700 profile, we need very strong documentation for the facts that make a profile genealogically defined -- birth and parents, marriages, death, and children. Notice how the material already here is strongly footnoted. Our intent is that everything in the data field that connects profiles reflect facts which we've documented in the biographical narrative. We'd be delighted for you to find some more facts!

Hi Lee, Thank you for reaching out with this information. What sources do you have that support Robert Fuller and Sarah Ann Bowen as being John Fuller’s parents? Thanks!

Lee, welcome to the world of documented genealogy! SAR membership applications are of varying quality, so we would need to be able to see and find the specific reference used there; Find a Grave "index" is just that -- ideally a place to tell you where to find the actual documents. Look at what's already on this profile and how Jana has linked various facts to actual source documents. Even Barnes' book, which is not a source document, contains detailed references to actual source documents. (And Barnes, a professional genalogist, couldn't discover who John's parents are.)

Hi Jana! I've added US Southern Colonies Project as a manager, as you requested in February. Sorry for the delay!

You had also requested that the profile be locked (PPP). Since the text seems to have resolved the problem (at least judging by no further problematic changes that I saw), do you think it still needs PPP? I can add it if you do, just let me know.

Cheers, Liz
