George lived with his parents and siblings in Wilkes Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania, United States in 1870[1] and 1880.[2]
According to his father’s death notice in 1895, George had returned from Brooklyn for the funeral.
George lived in Buffalo City, Erie, New York in a boarding house in 1900. He was recorded as a chainman and surveyor.[3]
George married Sophia Margaret Boldt on 4 Dec 1901 in West Seneca, Erie, New York.[4] They had children. They lived in West Seneca, Erie, New York in 1905[5] and in Lackawanna, Erie, New York in 1910,[6] 1915[7] and 1920, where George was recorded as working as a Foreman in a steel mill.[8] The family lived in Buffalo, Erie, New York in 1930[9] and 1940.[10]
Research
According to his mother’s obituary, George has the middle initial M. His father’s obituary says that he had returned from Brooklyn, New York for the funeral. This, coupled with a daughter named Estella, which was the name of his sister, and a son named Walter H, which was the name of his brother, has resulted in the deduction that he married, Sophia Boldt. The only anomaly detected with this theory is the recording of France and England for father’s and mother’s birth place on the 1930 census.
Ideally, this needs to be proven with DNA, unless other researchers have further evidence to support, or contradict, this reasoning. If so, please do get in touch with the Profile Manager.
