Biography

William Temple was born 22 Feb 1760 or 1762, the son of William Franklin. Note: wikipedia entry for the father says the son William was born 1762 BUT wikipedia entry for the son says he was born 1760. William Temple died in 1823. [1]

2. Mistress 1: Ellen Johnson D Evelin - daughter of his father's [William Franklin] second wife - children: Ellen Franklin was born 1798 in London, Middlesex, England and raised by William Temple Franklin's father. [2]

3. Affair # 2: Wife of British Ambassador Children: Daughter Franklin b: Bef 1802[3]

4. Mistress 2: Blanche Caillot - b: Abt 1766 Children: Théodore Franklin b: Abt 1785 in Paris, Louvre, Seine, France; by his mistress, Blanche Caillot, a married women. This son died young.

5. Mistress 3: Miss C3 O WT Franklin - b: Abt 1765 Common Law Wife Three With Franklin Not Married in Prob. Philadelphia, PA Children: 1. James W. Franklin, Sr. Born on 15 Dec 1789 in Roaring River, Wilkes County, North Carolina.. He died on 04 Sept 1860 in Castlewood, Russell County, VA. He married Nancy Amburgey. 2. Lucy Franklin. She was born 1790. She married William Amburgey.

6. Marriage: Hannah Collyer 1823 Married in France when living in France again, Franklin had a long relationship with Hannah Collyer, an Englishwoman. They finally married a month before his 1823 death, in poverty, in Paris.

Prior to his death, we wrote his final will as follows:

I William Temple Franklin, citizen of the United States of America, now in Paris, do make & declare my last will and testament as follows, Viz. All my lands in the States of New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia, or elsewhere in the United States of America, not otherwise disposed of hereafter in this will and testament, shall be sold to the best advantage in the course of eighteen months after my death, and out of the produce thereof shall be paid, 1st all my just and lawful debts due in the land United States particularly that to the existing Miss Millers daughter of Mr. J. Miller of Philadelphia, deceased in June is the ( ) amounting to the sum of twenty-nine thousand francs expected with int. 5 per cent, deducting therefrom the amount of what I have paid for the education, board, clothing & physical funeral and other expenses for Unadilla Miller, the natural son of the aforesaid J. Miller, who previous to his death, deported with me the said expenditure sum of twenty nine thousand francs (being the produce of between Bills of Exchange) This is a most sacred debt — & I will that it shall be accomplished, and paid agreeably to the intention of Mr. J Miller as expressed in his letters to me of the 23 & 26 August 1806 — which will be found among my papers. The interest for the aforesaid capital was generally exhausted for the support of his child Unadilla Miller during his short life— it is therefore only from the period of his death or another six months after (in order to include the extraordinary expenses paid on that melancholy orphan) That therefore 1st interest commences— 2ndly I will that there shall be paid out of the produce of the sale of my said lands, the sum of three hundred pounds after per y. (per annum) - to my god child Sarah Bache, if living- 3rdly the sum of five hundred dollars to June Dougherty of Philadelphia, now going by the name of her husband, if she be living at my decease.— 4thly I will that the remainder of the produce of the sale of my afore said landed property, in the state of New York, Pennsylvania, &tc shall go to my natural daughter Ellen Franklin, baptized and registered at St. James Church, London, the 15th May 1798 on the express condition, after placing a sufficient sum, for the payment to her mother Ellen Johnson d'Evelin (if living) and during her life, an annuity of one hundred pounds per y. (per annum) - which I hereby will shall be functionally paid her— (WTF).[4]

He is buried at Père Lachaise Cemetery.
