Biography

James was born in Hamburg, Germany, on 26 August 1882, into a Jewish family, the second child and first son of Jacob Franck, a banker, and his wife Rebecca née Nachum Drucker. He passed away in 1964.

James Franck was a physicist. He was already an important academic in Germany when the Nazis took power, after which he moved to Denmark and then the United States.[1][2]
