Hi Al,

1) You have to be either a manager of the profile or on the trusted list for that profile. 2) If you are trying to change a last name at birth, once you are on the edit tab, you need to look for the tiny edit link next to the current lnab (on the left side) and click on that. It will take you to another screen where you can change it.

Hi Al,

I am glad you figured out how to change your privacy level. Another thing to keep in mind when you look at your profile page is that when you go to your profile it will automatically go to private view. This is the information only the people on your trusted list can see, such as a living parent. There is also a tab for public view which will show you what everybody sees. On the public view, if your mother is still living, it should not have shown her name, it should display something like this: [private mother (1930s - unknown)]

Hello, Al!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi

To remove the photo from the profile, click on the photo. This will open the Photo Edit page. On the left side of the page, where it says "People, Places & Things in the Photo," select "REMOVE" next to the appropriate name(s), then click "Save Changes to Photo Info" at the bottom of the page. When you save the changes, the photo will not appear on any profiles.

This disconnects the image from any profile, but it will still exist in the database for a short period of time so that it can be recovered. This way photos can't be maliciously or mistakenly deleted.

Hi Al 😀

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.

Hi

To change your name, first click on the edit tab on your profile page. You can change most of the name fields from the page that comes up. You need to change your last name at birth, look for the tiny edit next to that field and that will take you to another page where you can change your last name at birth.
