William Francis was born in Wiltshire, England.

William was born about 1802. A William Francis, son of William and Rebbecca Francis was baptised at Stratford Tony, Wiltshire, England on 27 Jun 1802. ^[1]

In December 1830, William Francis of Bishopstone, Wiltshire and Mary Trubridge of Great Wishford, Wiltshire married by banns. It was a first marriage for both. ^[2]

In the 1851 Census, William (Agricultural Labourer) and Mary were listed living in Croucheston, Bishopstone, Wilton, Wiltshire, England, with eight of their children, aged 16-1 year old, living in their home. All the boy children aged over 8 were listed with occupations. ^[3]

At the time of the 1861 Census, they were listed living at Hilton, Bishopston, Wilton, Wiltshire. William remained an Agricultural Labourer, and now Mary was listed as a field worker. They had two daughters, aged 21 and 14 living with them. ^[4]

By the time of the 1871 Census, William and Mary were the sole occupants of their household in Netton, Bishopstone, Wilton, Wiltshire. Sixty five year old William was still listed as an Agricultural Labourer. ^[5]

In the 1881 Census, William was listed as a 78 year old widowed Gardener, living alone in Netton Street, Bishopstone, Wilton, Wiltshire. ^[6]

Eighty six year old William Francis, born 1802, was buried in Bishopstone on 10 Mar 1886. ^[7]
