Biography
Stephen Foye was born on or about 2 Aug 1799, according to his age at his death from his gravestone.[1] The 1850 Census shows him as 50 years old, born in New Hampshire.[2]
The town clerk of Livermore, Maine, certified that "an intention of marriage between Mr. Stephen Foy of Livermore & Miss Elizabeth Bishop of Leeds has been published in the Town of Livermore as the Law directs." The intention is undated but appear beween entried of 30 Jul 1822 and 30 Aug 1822.[3] The intention had been published in Leeds on 14 Jul 1822, and they married at Leeds on 18 Aug 1822.[4]
The gravestone of Stephen Foye at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Canton, Maine, says that he died on 23 Feb 1873 at the age of 73 years, 6 months, 21 days.[1]
