He was Superintendent of Lights (Head Lighthouse Keeper) at Point Lonsdale and Queenscliffe. [1]
He worked in concert with George Tobin, founder of the Port Phillip Pilots, most notably following the wreck of the Sacramento.
In 1858 William Foy marries Emma Bryant in Victoria, Australia.

1860 - "... William Foy was ‘Keeper’ (or Superintendent) of the two lighthouses at Shortland’s Bluff (Queenscliff) and of the new Swan Spit light which had come into service in October 1860."[3]
He passed away in 1899 in Queenscliff, Victoria, Australia. He was 89 years old. [4][1]
