William K. Foster started painting in 1958 shortly after his move to New York City from Dallas, Texas. He was inspired to paint after seeing a show of paintings by a fellow account executive at the advertising agency Ted Bates. He had had no formal training, so after his initial efforts, he took some private lessons from a teacher in New York City.
For a number of years Bill's ability and interest grew to where he devoted a large amount of his free time to painting. He won numerous awards in Connecticut and California for oil and pastel paintings. His work is now represented in numerous private art collections in New York, Connecticut, Illinois, California, Colorado, Texas, Oregon, New Mexico, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maine, England, Turkey, Canada, Mexico, Portugal, and other venues.
