Biography
Joseph Fortin was born 28 Jun 1815. He was baptized the same day at Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours, L'Islet. The sponsors at his baptism were Joseph LeBourd and Marie Angelique Fortin.
On 10 Jan 1843, in L'Islet (Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Secours), Joseph Fortin adult son of the late Joseph Ignace Fortin and the late Marie Louise Moreau (sic) married Anastasie Bélanger adult daughter of Louis Marie Bélanger and the late Marie Josephte Normand. Witnesses included the groom's godfather Joseph Lebourdais and the bride's father, no signatures. [1]
- Dispensation was obtained for a third degree of consanguinity. They were second cousins through Jean François Bélanger and his wife Marie Josephe Belleau. They were related along several other lines as well.
