Biography
Thomas Forgan may have been born or baptised on 10 February 1699 in Kilconquhar, Fife, Scotland, the son of David Forgan and Margaret Wallas.[1]
Thomas married Jean Craigie on or after 13 November 1719 in Carnbee, Fife, Scotland.[2] They had ten known children:

- There is no conclusive evidence of this Thomas's birth date or parents, it is more a coincidence of a record existing for someone born at a feasible date in a feasible location.
- There appears to be no evidence on Scotlands People for a child Jean Forgan baptised in Dunfermline in 1751.
- There also appears to be no evidence on Scotlands People for a death for Thomas.

I cannot find a marriage for an Ann Bruce and a Thomas Forgan, only to a William Forgan in Carnbee in 1724 with three fitting baptisms of children Thomas, Helen and Magdalane between 1728 and 1738. EDIT: I have removed Ann as Thomas's wife and made her William's wife, and I have moved the Thomas and Magdalane to be their children and added Helen.
Thomas's 1718 marriage to Ann Dewar is somewhat early for this time and place. I can't in fact find either the marriage or the three children who are connected to this coupling. Euphemia and Agnes appear to be the children of a David Forgan and Ann Tod, with James having other parents. The births of these children partly overlap with the next marriage. EDIT: I have removed Ann Dewar as Thomas's wife since I have found that the birth dates of the children Euphemia, Agnes and James match baptismal records for parents James Forgan and Ann Dewar.
I believe I may be descended from Thomas Forgan's marriage to Jean Craigie, and Scotlands People records confirm their marriage in 1719 and eight children between 1721 and 1738: Andrew, Elizabeth, William, Helen, Isabel, Margaret, Ann and Agnes. EDIT: Plus two children listed under the surname variation Forgane.
This makes Thomas's marriage to Isobel Wilsone in 1721 highly unlikely, and in fact it seems to be a marriage to an Arthure Forgan. EDIT: I have removed Isobel as Thomas's wife and connected her to Arthur, also two children for whom there were baptismal records naming this couple as their parents.
I presume some profiles were inadvertently merged. EDIT: I have removed several other children and connected them to the parents indicated by Scotlands People records showing the same dates and locations as the profiles, although I have not been able to locate parents for Jean born 1751 in Dunfermline.
EDIT: The birth date and location in Thomas's profile match the record I have added in the bio, which I added alongside a research note about lack of proof. If the date and location are correct, Elspeth Robertson was not his mother and I have disconnected her. The baptismal record is the only possible record for Thomas on Scotlands People, and even if it is incorrect, it is doubtful that Elspeth Robertson was his mother.
