Biography

James Bluford Ford was born in 1875. When he registered for the draft for WWI (1918) he was living in Marianna, (Lee County) Arkansas, and he continued to live in Lee County through the 1920 and 1930 census periods.

Research Notes

James appeared to be incarcerated in the 1930 census. Previously he has lived with his mother, who goes by the name of Julia Pursley.(spelling can differ year to year), and in the 1920 census he was indentified as J.B. Pursley. I've been unable to narrow down which James Ford he is in the 1940 census--there's a chance that he might have moved back to Kentucky.

@NI01901@ NOTE1880 census, Izard Co., ARK., Union Twp., enum. as James B. Ford. ---after reading this note (at the ending of my sourcing!!) I have strong doubts about the 1880 census in Izard County being the correct family for this James Ford. There are many James Ford families in Arkansas and Kentucky in that time period. I also believe that the name of the mother (America J is incorrect. Everywhere that I found her she was noted as J.A. or Julia A. So, I would suggest that someone investigate more about this family.
