Biography

Mary (Foote) Tracy immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Mary was born probably about 1622/23 based on her approximated marriage by 1643. She was definitely born in England, but no baptismal record was found in Shalford, as was the case for her older siblings.

Mary’s mother, Elizabeth Welles, named her daughter Goodrich and her children, as beneficiaries in her 1678 will. She also made a bequest to Mary’s son John Studder.[1]

Mary married three times.[2]

  • (1) by 1643 John Stoddard.[2] Their oldest known child was born in Wethersfield 12 March 1643/4.[2][3] John died in 1664.[4]
  • (2) shortly after 4 April 1675 John Goodrich. On that day he and Mary Stoddard, both of Wethersfield, made an agreement regarding their estates, stating they were to be married shortly.[2][5] He died April 1680[4]
  • (3) by 1683 Thomas Tracy, when he received his wife's portion of Elizabeth Welles's estate.[1]

Mary (Foote) Stoddard was alive 2 Sept., 1685, when she received an accounting concerning the estate of her husband "Goodrich"[4] Thomas Tracy died Nov. 7, 1685. When his estate was distributed, no mention of his widow was made. It can be implied that she died before then.[6]

The death date of 31 July 1721, belongs to Mary (Winslow) Tracy wife of John. [7]
