Original data: Ohio Birth Records. Columbus, Ohio: Ohio Vital Records Office.

Description This database contains an index of Ohio births for the years 1908–1998. Details include name, birth date, and city and county of birth

Source Citation Ohio Department of Health; Columbus, Ohio; Ohio Marriage Index, 1970 and 1972-2007

Original data: Ohio Marriage Index, 1970 and 1972-2007. Columbus, Ohio: Ohio Department of Health, Office of Vital Statistics, 2008.

Description This database contains more than 3 million marriages in Ohio between 1970 and 2007. The records from 1971 aren’t included because they aren’t available from the Ohio Office of Vital Statistics. This is a collection of abstracts that were created with limited information for filing purposes. The information can then be used to find the marriage certificates at the individual county probate courts. The records contain the name of bride/groom, birth year, county of residence, county of license and marriage date.

Source Citation Ohio Department of Health; Columbus, Ohio; Ohio Divorce Index, 1962-1963, 1967-1971 and 1973-2007

Original data: Ohio Divorce Index, 1962-1963, 1967-1971, 1973-2007. Columbus, Ohio: Ohio Department of Health, Office of Vital Statistics, 2008.

Description This database contains abstracts of divorce records for the state of Ohio. Beginning in 1962 and extending to 2007, this collection has information regarding the parties involved, and can provide information needed to request copies of divorce decrees, which are available through individual county courts in Ohio. While this collection contains a wide range of years, unfortunately, 1964,1965,1966 and 1972 are missing, as abstracts for these years are not available from the Ohio Office of Vital Statistics.

Hello, Valora!

Thanks for your participation during our Connect-A-Thon 2020. It is amazing how many more profiles were created and added to our Shared Tree over the weekend. I hope you’ll join us for the Source-a-thon this fall.

Kind regards,

Hi Valora, you made changes to the death date and location on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Squire-26. Pre-1700 profiles need sources and collaboration with the profile managers when changes such as these are made. Would you please go back and add a source to the file to substantiate the changes? Please be sure to read and understand the pre-1700 help page.

Thanks Bobbie

Hi Valora, you seem to have created a number of duplicate profiles for Sayre family members. As WikiTree policy is to have only one profile per person, they will need to be merged into the existing profiles. You can still work on these profiles add sources etc and have them on your trusted list.

At this stage I have only proposed one merge but the other duplicate profiles will need to be merged as well.

I apologize for all the dupes. I was over-eager and excited to have found WikiTree. I've already merged a few of them and will stop everything until I read the instructions and get a better handle on how this site works. Thank you for pointing the dupes out to me. All will be fixed in due time.
Valora, you also made changes to the profile for Alice Squire, importing a large duplication of data on her profile. Please refrain from doing this as it makes a lot of work for the profile managers to clean up. If you find *new* information, please advise the PMs of the profile of the source of the information and allow for collaboration on the changes to the profiles. This is especially important on pre-1700 profiles.

Hello Valora,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Sources are very important here on Wikitree, especially on Pre-1700 profiles. It is how we show where we got the info and help others find it too. Find out more about sources here and more detailed info here.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

If you have any questions, click reply below this message and I will get back to you.

Bem vinda Valora!

I see that you have ancestors from São Miguel. I do as well, but they are mostly from Feteiras in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel. Here is that section of my family tree. I hope that you find cousins here. Best of luck with your research, and let me know if you ever need help!

I have entered a lot, including many duplicates. So, I'm going to read the directions on how to navigate and use WikiTree. I guess I got all excited because this is a promising new site. I've got an Ancestry account at the moment but I am hoping to move everyone over to here. I appreciate the tip on using tags. Thank you for the info, it's very much appreciated.
Hi Valora

I am pleased to confirm you as a member and welcome you to the WikiTree family. Your contributions will go a long way to joining the world’s trees together.

I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

Please add as much information as you can, as it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Have fun collaborating on your ancestors

Wendy ~ WikiTree Greeter

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.

P.S. May I suggest that you amend your tags, so you have one tag for each name you are researching and the location?

If you create separate tags for your surnames, the tags become clickable links to pages of others who want to collaborate about that surname. With the surnames combined in a tag, that isn't possible. This link may help you [1]

Your Wiki Genealogy Feed will show the activity connected to the surnames and places relating to your tags.

Wendy ~ WikiTree Greeter

Thank you, Wendy. I just haven't done this right. Like a man, I tossed the directions...lol. The more I go through, the more I see how that wasn't a good idea and I will now be reading all the directions (How-tos).
Welcome!

This is just a note to say hello and to let you know that I'm available to answer questions about joining WikiTree. To contact me, reply to this comment, or click the link to my name and then send a private message or post a comment on my profile page. Gilly ~ WikiTree Greeter

P.S. If you did not receive a notice to confirm your email, check your spam folder or use this link to request a new one https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/E-mail_confirmation_problems. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.
