Biography

The family lived in Premia, about ten miles north of Domodossolla where Major was born.

In 1885 his father immigrated to the United States, leaving him and his mother behind in Italy until his father found a place to settle. In 1887 he and his mother immigrated to the United States and joined his father in Julian Nebraska.

In 1906 he married Emma in Tecumseh, Nebraska. They moved to Wray, Colorado where they homesteaded about ten miles west of town. There they raised their family. The family remained on or near the homestead until 1935 when the dust bowl years finally took their toll and Major and Emma and the two youngest girls, Helen and Loretta, loaded up their belongings and headed West. They eventually stopped near Auburn, Washington where Major worked odd jobs and finally purchased land and a home and stayed for their remaining years.

To this day, one of his grandsons and his family remain in the Wray, Colorado area and are active in the farming industry.
