Biography

Bengt was the son of Folke "the Fat" Ingevaldsson and Ingegerd Knutsdotter of Denmark (daughter of king Canute IV of Denmark).

Bengt had at least three children:

• The Riksjarl Birger Brosa
• Magnus Minnesköld
• Charles the Deaf

Notes

• The existence of the wife connected here to Bengt, Ulfhild Björnsdotter, is highly disputed by modern historians.^[1]
• One of the sources that mention Bengt Snivil as a son of Folke is Saxo Grammaticus, a Danish historian who lived around 1200 AD.^[2]
  • Folke the fat married Ingerd, the daughter of the in 1086 murdered king Knut the Holy. With her, he had the sons Bengt and Karl and through them the grandsons Birger Brosa, Karl the deaf, and Magnus Minniskiöld.^[3]
