He served the Confederate States of America during the Civil War. He enlisted, in Opelika, Alabama, on April 5, 1862 as a Private in the 45th Alabama Infantry.[3]
He married Sarah Levisa Howry on December 15, 1884 in Denton County, Texas.[4] Their children were:
He died, at the age of 76, on March 2, 1911 in Waco, Texas.[1] He is buried at the Oakwood Cemetery, Waco, McLennan County, Texas.[7] On his Find A Grave Memorial it states according to Oakwood Cemetery Records, Col. Flournoy was re-interred from First Street Cemetery to Oakwood on March 22, 1918.
